Former Resident

Focus: Research Analysis & Documentation

Audrey Maxner (she/her) served as a Resident with a focus on research analysis & documentation. In this role, she was responsible for her personal growth and professional learning, applied knowledge, and project management as part of the Creative Generation Summer Residency Program.

Audrey is a master’s student in the Arts Management program at American University. She moved to Washington, D.C. and began her graduate studies shortly after spending four years in the thriving city of Baltimore. New to the east coast, Audrey found community within Baltimore’s artistic landscape and experienced the many ways art brings people together. In addition to attending open mics and LGBTQ+ community events, she became a founding member of Sofar Sounds: Baltimore, working amongst a team of LGBTQ+ women of color to host up-and-coming performers. While doing this work, Audrey also attended the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University and graduated in 2020 with her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance and a minor in the Business of Music. She will soon be starting her role as Music Education Program and Productions Fellow at the Kennedy Center in the Fall.

Alongside her studies, Audrey is an educator, a musician, and a lifelong learner. Her experiences as a Chinese-Jewish Disabled Queer person drive all her endeavors. She is continuing to explore what it means to lead with care and to foster spaces grounded by the knowledge of our ancestors, our elders, our peers, and our youth.

Audrey enjoys spending her time knitting, making music, and playing with her family’s three goldendoodles. She is currently knitting a patchwork blanket with her partner, Fin.
