Former Resident

Focus: Learning & Community Engagement

E. Mones (they/them) served as a Resident with a focus on learning & community engagement during the summer of 2022. In this role, they were responsible for their personal growth and professional learning, applied knowledge, and project management as part of the Creative Generation Summer Residency Program.

They are a poet, interdisciplinary artist, and community organizer, living on unceded O’odham and Hohokam land in Phoenix, AZ. Their passions lie at the intersection of arts, social justice, and cultural work. A future teacher, they study Music Education, Jewish Studies, and Theatre at Arizona State University, and leads solidarity work through ASU's Students for Justice in Palestine.

They are an alum of AmeriCorps Public Allies AZ, and were honored with the Diversity and Inclusion Award for their community work in LGBTQ+ inclusivity. They work in queer Jewish community at SVARA: A Traditionally Radical Yeshiva, and hope to become a rabbi and cultural leader later in life. Their art is sourced in ancestral dedication, and in exploration of Jewishness, de-assimilation, queerness, and liminality. They see art as a profound tool for healing, evolution, and changemaking on individual and collective levels, and they look forward to dedicating their life to community-building pursuits.
