Patrick Scafidi

Specialist, Knowledge Production

Focus: Curiosity & Learning

Patrick Scafidi (he/him) serves as the Specialist for Knowledge Production with a focus on curiosity and learning. In this role, he contributes to specific projects within Creative Generation’s portfolio.

Patrick is the Executive Editor of The Ensemble, the foremost digital publication for the global field of music for social change. In his role, he also oversees editorial content for The Basket, a monthly newsletter sharing news and resources for music educators, administrators, parents, and students. In reporting on the work being done by arts practitioners across the world, The Ensemble seeks to connect and inform anyone who is committed to youth empowerment through the arts.

Patrick is a New Jersey native and Brooklyn resident, where he moonlights as a writer and editor for hire. To date, he has edited ten published books in addition to authoring his first book, Armored Dinosaurs, a children’s nonfiction title. One of his projects, Origins of a Story, was named one of Kirkus’ “Best Books of the Year: Indie Nonfiction.”

A graduate of Bucknell University, Patrick has spent his career writing and editing—first at Workman Publishing, and now for the Longy School of Music in addition to his freelance work. His focus on children’s education has allowed him to report on the Creative Youth Development (CYD) field for the past two years. He would like it known that he also plays the trumpet, though not nearly as well as he used to.
