Former Research & Documentation Resident

Rachell Peña (she/her) served as the Research & Documentation Resident as part of the Creative Generation Summer Residency Program from June - August 2021.

Rachell is a policy researcher living and working in Indianapolis, Indiana. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs at Indiana University Bloomington, where she majored in Public Policy and minored in Media and Latinx Studies to better understand the root causes and outcomes of complex social problems.

Rachell is dedicated to advancing social justice and transformative change by prioritizing historically marginalized voices, perspectives, and experiences in research, publishing, and media. Concurrent to her work at Creative Generation, she served as a Research Assistant at the Center for Research on Inclusion and Social Policy (CRISP) at the IU Public Policy Institute, which examined systemic issues at the intersection of social policy and equity to develop community-driven solutions. At CRISP, Rachell contributed to reports and policy briefs that address racial, ethnic, and gender disparities in housing, social services, and community development.

After Creative Generation, Rachell continued her work supporting the Latinx community at the Indiana Latino Institute.
