On Friday, October 28, 2022, during the closing session of the Arts Schools Network (ASN) annual conference in Las Vegas, NV, Creative Generation’s managing director, Jeff M. Poulin, recognized the first cohort graduating from the jointly convening leadership development program.
Over the last 9 months, Creative Generation worked with a passionate group of arts school leaders who are committed to driving change in their schools and communities towards these ideals. The ASN Arts & Cultural Education Leadership certificate program is the first of its kind in the field. Creative Generation is proud to work in collaboration with ASN on this initiative.
The goal of this work was to prepare individuals who are equipped to reimagine the structures of leadership, evolve cultural and education ecosystems, and develop sustainable systems which cultivate the creative capabilities of young people. With three learning sessions and monthly gatherings, participants formed a meaningful community of practice to grow their leadership skills.
The first cohort, which graduated 25 leaders, conducted a deep-dive study into the global research on leadership, critical reflection, mindfulness, wellbeing, and many more topics. Each participant conducted a community-based project to drive change locally.
Upon completion of their final assignment, the cohort became the first class of the Arts Creative Leadership Certificate. Registration for the next cohort opens in early December via the ASN website.
