Louisiana A+ Schools (LAA+) and Creative Generation are pleased to announce their new collaboration to produce a retreat focused on virtual professional development and digital teaching strategies for the Louisiana A+ Fellows. Through this experience and continued technical assistance, participants will document their piloted practices and Creative Generation will publish a resource bank of models for the arts education field.
With the vision of a state brimming with creative and innovative schools that believe the arts are the catalyst for a reawakening, LAA+ is part of a multi-state network which uses the A+ Essentials to guide school-wide reform towards a fully arts-integrated model. The Fellows are a group of over 60 master educators, including National Board Certified Teachers, Arts Specialists, Professional Teaching Artists, School Principals, Arts Organization Administrators, and School District Supervisors.
“Louisiana A+ Schools has been a leader in arts integration, school transformation, and peer-to-peer professional learning for years,” said Jeff M. Poulin, managing director of Creative Generation. “We, at Creative Generation, are excited to collaborate with this vibrant group of Fellows to exchange knowledge, build skills, and produce a meaningful set of tools to elevate their work and enable greater peer learning in the field.”
Creative Generation was founded in April 2019 as a research initiative and has grown its work throughout the United States and around the world. Through pioneering research in the arts and cultural education field – and the relentless support of arts and cultural educators in their work to cultivate the creative capabilities of young people – the organization regularly leads strategic projects through its Incubator for Creative Impact.
“We are thrilled to introduce our Fellows to the work of Creative Generation,” said Bethany Hager, executive director of LAA+ Schools. “Creative Generation and LAA+ share the common goal of cultivating and developing creativity in learners and this Retreat will allow us to take our facilitation skills to the next level.”
