In August 2021, we were thrilled to gather together as a collective to consider what makes Creative Generation, well, Creative Generation.
We spent several days in nature, strengthening our relationships, creating art, and reflecting on the first two years of our work at Creative Generation. Most importantly, we interrogated - deeply and in the context of the impacts of the multiple pandemics occurring in our communities and around the world - our mission, vision, values, and goals.
When we work with collaborators on their organizational development, we use a process called Adaptive Impact Planning, which I developed specifically with socially-engaged nonprofits in mind. This process helps create more agile organizations that can be responsive to wins — like a new major donor — or challenges — here, I’ll gestures broadly at everything.
We aim, always, to walk the talk, so we went through this process ourselves and emerged with a new mission and vision, a bunch of goals, and a long list of values which guide our work and ways of working. I worked to refine them, the collective approved them, and from September to January, we have spent the quality time embedding our new approach into everything we do.
Now, in an effort to communicate transparently with our collaborators and stakeholders, we’re sharing them all with you in a shiny new brochure!
