Creative Generation is thrilled to welcome Filarmónica Joven de Colombia and its new project titled, “4.40” co-created with the Global Leaders Program to the Incubator for Creative Impact.
Filarmónica Joven de Colombia is an artistic, cultural and social project created by Fundación Bolívar Davivienda in 2010, with the purpose of working on strengthening artistic life projects for Colombian youth and with a strong focus on the comprehensive talent development in each one of its participants. The Filarmónica Joven de Colombia is made up of young musicians between the ages of 16 and 24 years, from all over the country, selected by a rigorous audition process before an international jury with high standards of artistic projection.
4.40 showcases the dynamic, and often different perspectives of young leaders in the arts, through four 60-minute live sessions from September - November 2021. Each session will challenge four arts leaders, under age 40, to debate four ideas that have no universal answer. Each makes their best case, and audience members decide which view connects to their local realities.
Throughout this collaboration, Creative Generation will support Filarmónica Joven de Colombia in their work with the Global Leaders Program in the identification and cultivation of young leaders, production of the virtual global event, and the archiving of the knowledge documented throughout. The event and its archive will be free and open-resource for the field of arts and cultural management and education.
“The amplification of young voices in the arts and music management sector is vitally important to the future development of the field,” said Jeff M. Poulin, managing director of Creative Generation. “Vigorously debating ideas about our shared future will make possible the vision that the next generation sees for our work; and this event will surely contribute to its realization.”
Creative Generation was founded in April 2019 as a research initiative and has grown its work throughout the United States and around the world. Through pioneering research in the arts and cultural education field – and the relentless support of arts and cultural educators in their work to cultivate the creative capabilities of young people, the organizational supports projects around the world through the Incubator for Creative Impact.
“We understand the orchestra as a social innovation lab that builds a new vision of a career in music, working hardly in creating skills in critical thinking, entrepreneurship and teaching artistry among colombian young musicians to develop a new mindset ” said Juan Andrés Rojas Castillo, Executive Director of the Filarmónica Joven de Colombia. “4.40 is the opportunity to start discussing the future of classical music with young leaders and entrepreneurs who are starting to change a paradigm and to inspire new conversations around the challenges ahead.”
