Laurie T. Schell and Creative Generation Collaborate to Support Casemaking for Culture, Education, and Justice

Laurie T. Schell, ElevateArtsEd, and Creative Generation are pleased to announce their new collaboration to examine case-making for arts and cultural education and produce a suite of resources titled, “Making the Case for Culture, Education, and Justice.”

This work is both timely and relevant to support the role of arts and cultural education within the education system. Beginning with a review of the extant literature and knowledge from lived experiences, a series of articles will be produced, culminating in the design and implementation of an online Resource Center aggregating perspectives from the fields of culture, education, and social change on the topics of advocacy and case-making. Once published, the papers and Resource Center will enable the authoring of a multi-part curriculum to be offered in collaboration with collaborating organizations.

“Making the case for arts and cultural learning within education systems is absolutely essential now more than ever before,” said Jeff M. Poulin, managing director of Creative Generation. “We, at Creative Generation, are excited about the possibilities for this work and collaborating with veteran advocate, Laurie T. Schell. The knowledge being elevated and resources being created will support grassroots efforts for years to come.”

Creative Generation was founded in April 2019 as a research initiative and has grown its work throughout the United States and around the world. Through pioneering research in the arts and cultural education field – and the relentless support of arts and cultural educators in their work to cultivate the creative capabilities of young people – the organization regularly conducts research and develops training materials to support arts and cultural educators in their efforts within communities around the world.

“I welcome the opportunity to collaborate with Creative Generation in this new venture,” said Laurie Schell, founder and principal of ElevateArtsEd. “This is a chance to tie theory to practice and to better understand what motivates us to become advocates. I am  hopeful this new suite of resources  will provide insights and inspiration in our continued journey as change makers.”
