The Progressive Arts Education Coalition (PAEC, pronounced ‘pace’) works with change-makers throughout the nation who believe in the power of the arts to improve society, to promote access to arts education in- and out-of-school, and to strengthen and maintain creative career paths.
“Open and transparent dialogues among practitioners in communities is the only effective way to vision for the future of any sector,” said Jeff M. Poulin, managing director of Creative Generation. “We, at Creative Generation, are honored to be supporting this work and welcome a new chapter of leadership in the American arts education field.”
Creative Generation was founded in April 2019 as a research initiative and has grown its work throughout the United States and around the world. Through pioneering research in the arts and cultural education field – and the relentless support of arts and cultural educators in their work to cultivate the creative capabilities of young people – the organization regularly supports initiatives in establishing their projects, conducting research, and elevating local knowledge.
“The multiple pandemics of 2020 forced many things to the surface and revealed the true change agents through the arts,” said Tee Sandifer, CEO and Founder of Studio T Arts & Entertainment and California’s Day of Dance and a leader of PAEC.
“For youth and communities of color, the arts are a bridge to integration and equity. The COVID-19 pandemic laid bare so many inequities at the feet of our country's leadership and positioned young people, artists, and educators to demand change. There were many who said ‘we stand with you’ with no action to demonstrate their support. Now is the time to not just agree in words, but to lock arms in truth and action: to build a safety net, a birthing place, an unsegregated place for the many in need, through the power of the arts and arts education.”

About the Progressive Arts Education Coalition (PAEC)
The Progressive Arts Education Coalition (hereafter: PAEC, pronounced “pace”) fills a need in the arts and culture sector for an interdisciplinary network of arts education leaders building people-power to advance racial justice in the arts. Through advocacy efforts and coalition building on behalf of arts education organizations that touch everything from policy and research to community art and direct-service programming, PAEC challenges the arts sector’s history of gatekeeping and seeks redistributive solutions that center historically marginalized groups.
