Creative Generation Supports Bloomingdale School of Music

Bloomingdale School of Music (BSM) and Creative Generation are pleased to announce their new collaboration to facilitate and document future plans for the work of the institution related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Against a backdrop of fear, division, hate, and anxiety, the team Bloomingdale School of Music knows that music can be a source of healing for us and our families. Our school’s mission is unwavering: to provide open access to high-quality music education to anyone who seeks it, regardless of economic status, ability level, ethnicity, or religious affiliation. The school is committed to upholding those values by collectively reflecting and continuing to take actions to cultivate an environment that is inclusive and celebratory of our community members’ unique backgrounds and culture through our Diversity Taskforce.

“Helping organizations as they navigate change is of the utmost importance, especially in 2021,” said Jeff M. Poulin, managing director of Creative Generation. “We, at Creative Generation, are honored to be a part of this process with Bloomingdale School of Music as they work together to envision their future.”

Creative Generation was founded in April 2019 as a research initiative and has grown its work throughout the United States and around the world. Through pioneering research in the arts and cultural education field – and the relentless support of arts and cultural educators in their work to cultivate the creative capabilities of young people – the organization regularly facilitates and documents organizational practices for institutions around the world.

“Bloomingdale’s diversity is one of its greatest strengths, it allows our students, faculty and staff to evolve and gain new insights through the shared experience of music” said Erika Atkins, Executive Director of the Bloomingdale School of Music. “As we begin to develop our strategic plan for our next chapter, our Diversity Taskforce will play a key role in making sure we are intentionally centering equity into that conversation.”
