The Berklee Institute for Arts Education and Special Needs (BIAESN) and Creative Generation are pleased to announce their new partnership to produce the 2020 ABLE Assembly: Arts Better the Lives of Everyone Conference, which delivers high-quality professional learning experiences for arts educators working with students with disabilities.
Held this October, the 2020 ABLE Assembly Conference will continue its legacy as an exceptional professional development opportunity in the fields of arts education and special needs, bringing together educators, artists, researchers, policy-makers, school administrators, program administrators, and students to share best practices, engage in hands-on experiences, explore new research, and learn from each other. The event is open to the public.
“We believe arts and cultural education is a human right and educators are the essential element to deliver on that national promise,” said Jeff M. Poulin, managing director of Creative Generation. “Supporting the work of the BIAESN to develop the best professional learning opportunities for educators who work at the intersection of arts and special education is our honor.
Creative Generation was founded in April 2019 as a research initiative and has grown its work throughout the United States and around the world. Through pioneering research in the arts and cultural education field – and the relentless support of arts and cultural educators in their work to cultivate the creative capabilities of young people – the organization regularly leads professional learning initiatives through its Academy for Creative Leadership.
“By reconceptualizing the ABLE Assembly Conference as an online event, we are able to increase access to the conference, making it possible for more educators, researchers, artists, students, and advocates to convene, learn, and share,” said Rhoda Bernard, managing director of the BIAESN. “We look forward to expanding the reach of the conference and to moving the field of arts education and special needs forward in new ways.”
Sponsored by the Berklee Institute for Arts Education and Special Needs, which opened its doors in September 2017, the ABLE Assembly Conference promises to be an exceptional professional development opportunity in the field of arts education and special needs, bringing together educators, artists, researchers, policy-makers, school administrators, program administrators, and students to share best practices, engage in hands-on experiences, explore new research, and learn from each other. The event is open to the public.
