World Alliance for Arts Education and Creative Generation Forge New 3-Year Relationship

Together, the World Alliance for Arts Education (WAAE) and Creative Generation are pleased to announce their new partnership resulting from a Memorandum of Understanding signed on 13 July 2020, which will commence on 1 September 2020. This partnership will support the development of strategies and operations to advocate for arts education worldwide.

Based on the successful relationship co-producing the global campaign for International Arts Education Week from 25-31 May 2020, WAAE and Creative Generation seek to extend their collaboration via formal partnership through 2023. During the recent campaign, 7.3+ million people worldwide were reached with positive messages about the impact of arts and cultural education. Additionally, advocacy efforts to supranational stakeholders and national governments proved successful through coordination with the United Nation’s Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

“We are honored to be supporting the work of the World Alliance for Arts Education as it fulfills its mission to bring awareness to the common cause of arts and cultural education for the world’s youth,” said Jeff M. Poulin, managing director of Creative Generation. “We know the essential role that arts and cultural education will play in preparing the next generation to solve the world’s greatest challenges; it is our privilege to support the global infrastructure of organizations and educators who will be working first-hand to deliver on this promise.”

Creative Generation was founded in April 2019 as a research initiative and has grown through its work in the United States and around the world. Through pioneering research in the arts and cultural education field – and the relentless support of arts and cultural educators in their work to cultivate the creative capabilities of young people – the organization has supported numerous projects and initiatives on all six continents, led by myriad stakeholders including artists, educators, community activists, and youth.

“The positive benefits of WAAE’s collaboration with Creative Generation for International Arts Education Week 2020 is the impetus for building a stronger, longer term relationship, said Robin Pascoe, chair of the World Alliance for Arts Education. “Through this partnership WAAE will build reach and consistency of communication and strengthen our role in advocating for arts education everywhere.”

The WAAE utilizes the strength and knowledge within the trans-disciplinary, trans-national, and trans-cultural arts education associations to the benefit of arts education in the 21st Century. It is the formal partner of UNESCO and has led the global dialogue about arts education through numerous World Congresses.
