Please help us welcome our 2023 Summer Residents! Through the Summer Residency Program, Creative Generation will work with individuals from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in the sectors in which the organization works.
Meet Our Residents
Destiny King
Destiny is a lifetime learner who incorporates bringing her full identity and experiences into every room she walks into. She strives to continue celebrating the arts in all mediums and capacities, including expanding the diversity of what she’s worked in. Destiny is excited to utilize the skills, network, passion, and culturally rich ecosystem of the arts in her creative endeavors at Creative Generation. Find out more about Destiny.
El Tapia-Kwan
As a Trans, Queer, Xicanx Person of Color born and raised in a conservative rural town in Florida, El knows first-hand the beauty and value in providing an affirming space for ostracized individuals. He strives to actively center marginalized perspectives and voices while acknowledging systems of oppression that directly affect the health of those same persons. By combining all of his personal and professional experiences, El finds fulfillment in guiding others through experiences of expression. His summer residency is focused on highlighting and uplifting the artwork and perspectives of incarcerated youth. Find out more about El.
Danny Maggs
Danny Maggs (they/them) is thrilled and grateful to join the team at Creative Generation. They have just completed their first year of graduate school studying arts administration at Northeastern University. Danny is a proud graduate of Smith College, where they majored in music with a vocal performance concentration. They are active in their community, both musically and in spaces of advocacy work, and incorporate their values of equity and justice into their artistic practice. In their spare time, Danny writes, composes, and records songs, draws and paints with watercolor, and plays with their pet cat and madagascar hissing cockroaches. They enjoy horror movies, oddities and the occult, and long hikes in the forest. Find out more about Danny.
Residents will work directly with numerous members of the team at Creative Generation in the areas of research, learning, leadership, and communications. Residents develop specific skills applicable in arts and culture, education and youth development, and social and policy change. They will hone their commitment to and clarity of identity and values, skills in written communication, presentation for learning, research, project management, and artistic practice.
