CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: Blog Posts about Holding Tensions

As a part of our 2022 Campaign: Building Creative Futures, we are seeking blog posts from you about a new topic each quarter. Our first topic was ”unlearning,” second was “navigating,” and third was “bridging.” Up next is “holding tensions” - here’s the prompt:

How are you balancing divergent or converging influences on your work and honoring differences and similarities between people and experiences in the arts & cultural education space?

This could mean, “How do I collaborate with people that have different priorities than I do?” or “How do I elevate the needs and lived experiences of different groups of advocates?” or "What commonalities was I surprised to discover between two groups of people?” or some other option we haven’t even considered!

We want to know what’s happening in your sphere, whether that’s direct in- or out-of- school arts and cultural education, administration, advocacy, field-wide services, or your personal artistic or cultural practice.
You should feel free to do any and all of the following:

  • Interpret academic writing;

  • Share trends you observe in your work;

  • Articulate your opinion;

  • Amplify the voices of young creatives;

  • Elevate projects and people; or

  • Document promising practices to support innovation in the field.

The post should be:

  • Be approximately, 500-750 words, though we can accommodate more or less, if the topic requires

  • Use headers to break up different sections

  • Embed links to references, whenever possible

  • Send us photos or videos to include!

Check out our blog guidelines here.

You can submit using the form below, or email bridget@creative-generation.org with your full name and the text of your post, including a title. We can’t wait to hear from you!
