2021 Desert Skies Symposium on Research in Music Learning and Teaching

The 2021 Desert Skies Symposium on Research in Music Learning and Teaching - which occurs from February 18-20, 2021 - is open to all music and arts educators, artists, and community members, and focuses on persistent questions in education, the arts, and culture. The conference schedule and sessions are designed to be interactive, with opportunities to be in dialogue with one another about urgent matters in our field, particularly matters of justice, inclusion, and diversity. For the 2021 Symposium, the plenary speakers will be Bryan Brayboy, Natalie Diaz, and Django Paris. Each speaker will be featured in a plenary session, including a dialogue time with participants, and then all three speakers will be together in a conversation session with each other and conference participants. We’ve asked these three distinguished guests to help us think about indigeneity, justice, and how our work can support transformative change in this moment.

A showcase of 100 schools will gather online to share expertise and best practices during the inaugural World Education Week, to be held from 5-9th October. The hand-picked schools will join together in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal on Quality Education (SDG 4) and share their expertise across a range of educational themes, such as enhancing employability and life-skills; deepening family and community engagement; the use of technology; a focus on wellbeing; and promoting the science of learning and teaching.

Youth Engaged for Change are now accepting applications for youth, ages 16-24, to join the Youth Engaged 4 Change (YE4C) Editorial Board!

Editors help address the issues that youth care the most about! They write, develop, and review content for the YE4C website, social media, and other digital media (like podcasts and videos). YE4C Editorial Board members join virtual meetings to discuss issues that matter to young people.
