Learn from Teaching Artists Around the World Through Think Tanks Hosted (October - December 2021)

As this session was participatory and collaborative in nature, participants reflected on their own partnership experiences to create "action steps" and respond to their peers, with the overall goal to empower more Teaching Artists (TAs) around the world to take the lead in creating new, innovative partnerships which can enhance their work, and to advance the presence and effectiveness of STEAM programs.

We seek to collaboratively build educators’ capacity to do this. Black Teaching Artist Lab is conducting field-wide research on Black-identifying teaching artists, in an effort to grow and advance the field of Black teaching artistry. Data collected through this survey will be reported anonymously and in aggregate. For future stages of the study, we may reach out to respondents who are willing to share their stories.

“What would it mean for artists, art and design educators, and arts institutions to reconceptualize creative activity as a universal and inalienable human right?” Rolling says. “How might it change our conception of the visual arts and design in practice and in education?”
